Victorian organisations and journalists are being encouraged to get their entries in for the third annual Towards Zero Road Safety and Media Awards.

Organisations that have implemented the most innovative road safety projects in Victoria are eligible for the Road Safety Awards.

Four awards are up for grabs with each category recognising excellence in leadership in Victoria’s Towards Zero push for Safe Roads, Safe Speeds, Safe Vehicles and Safe People.

Journalists and media outlets also have a chance to take home an award by entering the Towards Zero Media Awards.

These Awards recognise excellence in reporting road safety issues and the important role media plays in helping the community understand the vision of zero deaths and serious injuries on our roads.

Awards on offer include Best Metropolitan Story, Best Regional Story and Best Media Outlet for Towards Zero Reporting.

Media entries will be judged based on their potential impact on community understanding of road safety issues and the presentation of facts.

The judging panel, made up of representatives from the Victorian Road Safety Partnership, will also look at how entrants made their story different to other media outlets.

Winning entries from each of the Road Safety and Media Awards will receive a trophy and $500 cash.

Award winners will be announced on Monday 15 August at the Towards Zero Road Safety Leadership Symposium Awards Function in Melbourne.

Entries for all awards close at 5:00pm on Friday 29 July.

For more information on how to enter and award guidelines please see the Towards Zero website.
