How To Claim

Step 1 – Call the TAC

To claim support services, you will need to call the TAC on 1300 654 329. A trained TAC staff member will then explain what entitlements you may have and gather the information needed to help you get your claim started.

After this call the TAC Customer Service team will mail a claim form to you to check the details, sign, date and have witnessed, refer to the Checklist for submitting your claim.

The claim form should be returned to the TAC as soon as possible after completion.

As you only have 12 months to make a claim, the sooner you contact us, the sooner the TAC can start paying for your treatment.  You will be advised when a decision has been made about your claim.

For further information on submitting your claim please refer to the Making a Claim for Compensation policy .

Step 2 – Use your claim number

You will be given a claim number.  This is your unique number that helps identify your claim with the TAC.  Please have this number ready when you call the TAC or attend treatment for your accident injuries.

Step 3 – Check you are eligible before starting new treatment

You should contact the TAC on 1300 654 329 before you start a new type of treatment or service.  This is to confirm that you are eligible for the particular service and that the TAC will pay for this.  You will be advised if you need to provide any further information.

Step 4 – Arrange Payment

Most of the time, the person who provided the service to you will send the account directly to the TAC. If you are sent a bill, you should send it to the TAC.

If you pay for a service yourself, and want the TAC to repay you, please ensure you keep your receipt, and send it to the TAC when making your claim.

You will need to complete a form to claim the following services when you pay for these yourself:

The TAC pays for support services by electronic funds transfer. It is important that you provide your bank account details to enable prompt payment.

If your service provider bills the TAC directly, you do not need to complete an expenses claim form.

Please note, you have two years from the date you received a service or treatment to claim payment from the TAC.
