Round 9 approved projects

Of 38 applications received in round 9, the TAC has approved 23 projects, totalling more than $414,000 in grants. Local Council and Rotary groups were well represented in approved projects.

Local Council focused primarily on the development of municipal road safety strategies. Rotary groups tended to focus on supporting the installation of breath testing devices in licensed premises.

The assessment panel continues to emphasise the need for community groups to develop high quality applications. The Community Road Safety Grants Program Guidelines can be accessed at www.tacsafety.com.au/crsg.

These guidelines provide comprehensive information to support the preparation of high quality applications.

In the nine rounds of the grants program, the TAC has now:

  • received 290 applications
  • approved 190 projects
  • committed funding totalling around $3.3 million in grants.

Below is a summary of successful applications in the latest round of funding.

Victorian Community Road Safety Partnership

A requirement of the TAC Community Road Safety Grants application process is to identify partners. Partners are integral to community engagement and sustainability of projects. VicRoads established the Victorian Community Road Safety Partnership Program in July 2011.

This program aims to increase the engagement and breadth of involvement of the Victorian community in effectively addressing local road safety issues.

Many registered Community Road Safety Groups will apply for TAC Community Road Safety Grants, or partner with other groups submitting applications to address locally identified road safety issues.

More information on the Victorian Community Road Safety Partnership Program can be found at www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/communityroadsafety.
