Round 10 approved projects
Of 36 applications received in round 10, the TAC has approved 23 projects, totalling more than $356,000 in grants. Local councils and Rotary groups were well represented in approved projects along with a number of small community groups.
Local councils focused primarily on the development of municipal road safety strategies. Rotary groups tended to focus on supporting the installation of breath testing devices in licensed premises. The smaller community groups focused on a variety of small projects that were very particular to their community needs.
The assessment panel continues to emphasise the need for community groups to develop high quality applications. The Community Road Safety Grants Program Guidelines can be accessed at www.tacsafety.com.au/crsg. These guidelines provide comprehensive information to support the preparation of high quality applications.
In the ten rounds of the grants program, the TAC has now:
- Received 326 applications
- Approved 213 projects and
- Committed funding totalling around $3.7 million in grants.
Below is a summary of successful applications in the latest round of funding.

Victorian Community Road Safety Partnership Conference 8 -9 October 2012
Community Road Safety 2012: Are we there yet?
The inaugural Victorian Community Road Safety Partnership Program Conference 2012 will bring together volunteer community members and professionals working in the area of community road safety to enhance the understanding of evidence based approach to addressing road safety, and to inform further action at the local level to improve the safety of road users in local communities.
The conference seeks to encourage interaction between participants to enable the sharing of key road safety and best practice information at the local level.
With a focus on ‘what works and what doesn’t work’, the conference will promote discussion between road safety practitioners and volunteer community members on the effectiveness of a range of road safety measures and processes.
The conference will involve participants from not-for-profit organisations who have a commitment to improving the safety of road users within their communities. The conference will provide an opportunity for the groups to network and showcase local programs and provide for the presentation of awards recognising best practice community programs as well as exemplary volunteerism.
There will be opportunities for interested community groups to present their innovative programs to the wider road safety community, with abstracts being called for in June.
