25 charges of fraudulently obtaining benefits pursuant to s116 of the Transport Accident Act 1986.
Convicted and sentenced to three months imprisonment with the sentence wholly suspended for 2 years. The accused was ordered to pay restitution of $33,154.10 and $500 in professional costs to the TAC.
The accused falsely represented to the TAC that as a result of injuries suffered from a transport accident the accused was totally unfit for work and as such fraudulently received Loss of Earnings benefits to which he was not entitled. The accused also falsely represented to the TAC that as a result of the injuries suffered from a transport accident the accused required regular taxi transport to which he was not entitled.
