One charge of obtaining benefits fraudulently contrary to s116 of The Transport Accident Act 1986 and one charge of supplying false information contrary to s117 of The Transport Accident Act 1986.
The Magistrate sentenced the accused to an 18 month Community Corrections Order with the following conditions:
1. the accused is supervised by the Office of Corrections for the period of the order,
2. the accused undergoes Mental Health Treatment and programs and
3. the accused performs 250 hours of unpaid community work.
The accused was also ordered to pay the TAC $112,054.00 in compensation. The sentence was imposed with conviction.
The accused registered as a service provider and claimed to be providing gardening maintenance services to the TAC client. The accused then claimed 60 years’ worth of work in just 3 month.
