2 charges of fraudulently obtaining benefits contrary to s116 of the Transport Accident Act 1986 and 3 charges of supplying TAC with false information contrary to s117 of the Transport Accident Act 1986.
The accused was convicted and sentenced and the magistrate imposed a 12 month Community Corrections Order whereby the accused must perform 160 hours of unpaid work, be under the supervision of the office of corrections, and undergo assessment and treatment for offending behaviours. The accused was ordered to pay TAC compensation in the amount of $103,570.23.
The accused submitted to TAC pre-accident employment documents which were later found to be fabricated by the accused alleged employer. As a result the accused received $103,570.23 in TAC Loss of Earnings and Loss of Earnings benefits fraudulently.
