1 charge of fraudulently obtaining benefits contrary to section 116 of The Transport Accident Act 1986 and 1 charge of supplying false information to the TAC contrary to section 117 of The Transport Accident Act 1986.
The accused was sentenced with conviction for an 18 month Community Corrections Order and to undergo a mental health assessment and subsequent treatment as part of the Order. The accused was further ordered to pay TAC compensation in the amount of $29,143.68 and costs of $500.
The accused submitted false and misleading self-employment documents and profit and loss statements to obtain Loss of Earnings benefits. In addition the accused provided the TAC with false and misleading invoices requesting reimbursement. As a result the accused fraudulently received Loss of Earnings benefits.
