TAC improves pharmacy invoicing requirements

28 Feb 2017

The Transport Accident Commission (TAC) has worked with the Pharmacy Guild to streamline processes to make treating TAC clients simpler for pharmacists.  From 1 March 2017, pharmacists will no longer be required to submit a copy of private scripts for privately dispensed medication when invoicing the TAC for services.

The TAC may request these as part of an ongoing review process for high risk medications; however you do not need to send them as part of the invoicing process.

This change is the first step in simplifying the approvals and payments process for healthcare practitioners.  In mid-2017 TAC clients will begin trialing a new card-based and smart phone app point-of-sale payment system that will provide billing surety to providers while helping clients access the services they need in a timely and efficient manner.

These changes form part of the new TAC’s new 2020 strategy, and were informed by feedback from the Pharmacy Guild.

The TAC would also like to remind pharmacists that we require a dispensary computer-generated tax invoice in order to pay for services.
