The TAC can pay for diagnostic imaging services for injuries sustained in a transport accident without written approval.
- Check the medical excess has been reached (if the excess hasn’t been reached, you may be able to bill Medicare or the patient’s private health insurance for the treatment). You can contact the TAC on 1300 654 329 to check your patient’s medical excess status.
- The TAC may request copies of the diagnostic reports and/or notes however you do not need to send these with your invoice.
- Send your invoice directly to the TAC via mail to Transport Accident Commission (TAC) GPO Box 2751, Melbourne Vic 3001.

Fees
The TAC has adopted the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) items, explanations, definitions, rules and conditions for services provided by medical practitioners. When invoicing for medical services, medical practitioners are expected to adhere to the MBS rules unless otherwise specified by the TAC in the Reimbursement Rates for Medical Services booklet or its medical policies.
