In 2015, there were 30 motorcyclist fatalities and in 2014/2015, 1,094 motorcycle riders were compensated by the TAC for injuries involving an acute hospital admission. 47% of motorcycle riders lost their lives in 2015 and 46% of those hospitalised in 2014/2015 were aged over 40.
While the numbers of females injured have increased, males are significantly more likely to lose their lives or be seriously injured than females.
