The Transport Accident Commission is helping community groups reduce road trauma in their own backyards with a new round of road safety grants.
Applications for the 2026 TAC Road Safety Grant Program have opened, with a total of $600,000 available to groups and organisations for road safety-focused projects in their local areas.
The program is offering Support Grants of up to $50,000 for the planning and delivery of community road safety projects, and Collaboration Grants of up to $150,000 for larger projects, for which successful applicants will work alongside TAC’s road safety experts.
Last year, nine Victorian groups and organisations received more than $360,000 in grants for projects to improve road safety in their communities. These included:
- MiCare – to deliver culturally tailored road safety education workshops supporting vulnerable newly-arrived refugees.
- Mums Supporting Families in Need – to provide professionally-fitted car seats to families experiencing disadvantage.
- Early Childhood Intervention Australia – to develop inclusive road safety resources for children with disabilities, families and therapists.
- Leisure Networks – for its Power 2 Pedal project, helping children and teenagers with autism in Geelong learn to ride bikes safely.
These programs support the goals of the Labor Government’s Victorian Road Safety Strategy 2021-2030, which aims to halve deaths and reduce serious injuries on roads by 2030.
Expressions of interest for the program’s Collaboration Grants opened yesterday and close on Friday, 27 February, while full applications for Support and Collaboration Grants open on Monday, 16 March and close on 15 April.
