The TAC's Annual Report, tabled in State Parliament today, highlights a record year of support for people impacted by road trauma in 2025-26.
In the 2025-26 financial year, the TAC funded $1.97 billion in treatment, rehabilitation, care and compensation benefits to support more than 48,000 people injured on Victorian roads, up from $1.87 billion in 2024-25.
The TAC maintained a strong financial position in 2025-26, recording an operating surplus of $1.1 billion and ensuring it can continue to meet the lifetime care and support needs of its most seriously injured clients.
The reporting period also demonstrated early progress against the TAC's corporate strategy, Make Every Day Matter, launched in 2024-25, with improvements across a range of client and provider service measures - resulting in an increase in client and provider satisfaction scores.
There were 291 lives lost on Victorian roads in 2025, six more than the previous year- a tragic reminder that there is more to do to improve safety by continuing to invest in safer roads, safer vehicles, enforcement and initiatives that encourage safer driving and riding behaviour.
In 2025-26, the TAC invested almost $131 million in road safety and trauma prevention initiatives and provided more than $28.3 million in new funding towards innovative technology and automated road safety cameras.
TAC Board Chair John Cain said the key highlight of 2025-26 was seeing the Make Every Day Matter strategy already delivering improvements for clients, providers and the community.
“Our strategy sets ambitious goals through to 2030 and holds us accountable for delivering them. These early results show that we are on the right track, and while there is more work to do, we remain focused and committed to improving the experience and outcomes for all TAC clients," Mr Cain said.
"Our hearts go out to the loved ones of the 291 people who lost their lives on Victorian roads in 2025, and to everyone affected by road trauma. Every death and serious injury is one too many.
"We remain more committed than ever to preventing road trauma through targeted, evidence-based investments, working alongside the Victorian Government and our road safety partners,” Mr Cain said.
