Media Release - 17 May 2007

The TAC’s Chief Operating Officer for Geelong, Andrew Boag, today announced 312 – 328 Moorabool Street as the intended site for the TAC’s transitional office in Geelong, with the relevant planning documents lodged today.

The TAC’s plans to open a transitional office in Geelong this year were announced at February’s Geelong Business Network Breakfast, as a measure that would help to facilitate a smoother and more efficient relocation for the business in January 2009.

Mr Boag said the 2000m2 space within the Moorabool street site, met the TAC’s requirements in terms of size, location and facilities such as on-site parking.

“Having a significant presence in Geelong ahead of the relocation means that some staff, who want to move to Geelong, have the opportunity to work from the region earlier. This will also strengthen the TAC’s ties in the community,” Mr Boag said.

“The site is a good match for our needs, and subject to approvals going through, we look forward to it being our transitional base.

“Having a transitional office will also assist with planning our workforce transition, and the recruitment and training of new staff”.

Mr Boag said the Moorabool street office will undergo a fit-out and will be operational as the TAC’s transitional office by the end of the year, subject to planning approvals.

The TAC’s Information Centre in Yarra St, Geelong will continue to operate and offer general information about the TAC and career opportunities locally.

The TAC’s relocation to Geelong was announced in December 2005, as part of the Victorian Government’s pledge to build regional economies. It is expected to generate more than 850 jobs and $59 million per annum in economic benefit for the Geelong region.
