MEDIA RELEASE: 17th December 2008

The Transport Accident Commission CEO Janet Dore has today accepted the keys to the new office in Geelong.

FKP Property Group has finished the building the office space in time for the TAC to move in throughout January.

Ms Dore said the handover of the keys signified an exciting time for the organisation.

“Furniture and general equipment are now being moved in and TAC staff are on site full time setting up the office,” Ms Dore said.

Ms Dore commended FKP Property Group and the TAC’s building team for their work.

“An estimated 400,000 hours of labour are being invested in the construction of the building, efforts that will ensure the offices are ready to accommodate TAC staff in January 2009.”

The building features state-of-the-art design and meets high standards in energy efficiency and environmental sustainability.

Ms Dore said she was looking forward to bringing all the staff together at the new offices.

“Many of our employees are happily settled in Geelong and those in Melbourne are looking forward to joining their colleagues at the new site.”

More than 150 employees are working from the TAC’s temporary Geelong office and many more are commuting to Melbourne until the office move.

Since June 2007, the TAC has recruited more than 200 employees from the Geelong region. At least 75 per cent of those recruited externally in 2008 live in the region.

The relocation will inject $59 million per year into the local economy.
