A unique and emotional exhibition is set to open in Geelong Tomorrow.

The exhibition, Picture This, offers Victorian artists recovering from road trauma the chance to showcase their work.

Now in its fourth year, Picture This opens on December 11 at Courthouse Arts and runs until Sunday December 16.

Local artist Ben Hughes said having time off work after a car crash gave him more time to pursue his hobby of making up board games.

The result is a board game Zombies, Aliens & Monsters (oh my!) that has recently returned to Geelong after featuring in the Melbourne leg of the TAC exhibition.

“I originally came up with the concept last year but it was the near-death experience of a car crash that gave me the motivation to follow it through,” Mr Hughes said.

“Now I have updated it a couple of times, crowd-funded to get a proper artist to provide the artwork and will be self-publishing later this year,” Mr Hughes said.

TAC Chief Executive Officer Janet Dore said some of the exhibitors were artists before their accident and others have taken up art more recently.

“Art provides people with a tangible way to express the emotional trauma that often accompanies a transport accident,” she said.

“Each piece of work provides a powerful insight into their individual journeys.”

Artists have a chance to win the People's Choice Award as voted by exhibition visitors. The prizes are Art Supply vouchers worth $500, $250 or $100.

The exhibition will be held at Courthouse Arts from Tuesday 11 December to Sunday 16 December 2012.
