The Minister Responsible for the TAC, John Lenders today visited the newly opened TAC Office and Information Centre in Yarra Street, Geelong.

Mr Lenders said the office gave the TAC a presence in Geelong and a valuable point of contact with the local community, ahead of its relocation in January 2009.

“The opening of a temporary office in Geelong this year is another key milestone for the TAC that has been met as part of its relocation process,” Mr Lenders said.

“The Greater Geelong community can now access general information about the TAC and career opportunities locally.

“This presence will allow TAC staff to strengthen local ties local businesses and the community.

“Opening a local office now will help to facilitate a smoother transition for TAC staff and clients, when the organisation relocates.”

The TAC’s new temporary office will be open between 9am and 4:30pm Monday to Friday.

Construction of the TAC’s new headquarters on the former Bowtruss site is expected to commence in February 2007, to enable the TAC operate from Geelong in January 2009.

The TAC’s relocation to Geelong was announced in December last year, as part of the Victorian Government’s pledge to build regional economies. It is expected to generate more than 850 jobs and $59 million per annum in economic benefit for the Geelong region.
