Transport accident survivors will have their creative side on display at one of Victoria's most unique art shows launching in Albert Park next week.

Picture This exhibits work exclusively from entrants who have been affected by road trauma.

The Transport Accident Commission's (TAC) emotional and colorful exhibition opens on 25 September at 6pm and runs until  to October 13 at Gasworks Arts Park in Albert Park.

The exhibition will be open to the public from 10am on Wednesday, 25 September.

Forest Hill resident Julie Grammatikos, who suffered a spinal injury in a car accident in 2009, is looking forward to having her work featured in the competition again.

"I am studying a Bachelor of Visual Arts, but had stayed out of galleries following my accident," Julie said.

"However, being a part of Picture This last year was great as I was back in familiar waters.

"This competition is helping me grow as a result," Ms Grammatikos said.

This year a record 42 pieces will be featured in the exhibition.

Works in previous years have told a story of road trauma through art and included paintings, drawings, photography, sculpture and poetry.

Some of the exhibitors involved were artists before their accident while others have taken up the hobby as part of their recovery process.

TAC Chief Executive Officer Janet Dore said the TAC valued the opportunity to engage with its clients through art.

"Art provides people with a tangible way to express the emotional trauma that often accompanies a transport accident," she said.

"Each piece of work provides a powerful insight into their individual journeys.

"Picture This is now in its fifth year and we look forward to seeing wonderful artwork for many more to come," Ms Dore said.
