More than $15 million is being invested in regional Victoria to upgrade unsafe roads to address run-off road and head-on crashes.
The Safe System Roads Infrastructure Program (SSRIP) is targeted at areas right across Victoria where projects can have a specific and immediate safety benefit.
Minister for Roads and Road Safety Luke Donnellan said people in regional Victoria were four times more likely to be killed in road crashes than those metropolitan Melbourne and 60 percent more likely to be seriously injured.
"The Safe System Road Infrastructure Program is about delivering small safety treatments that can make a big difference to the lives of Victorians," Mr Donnellan said.
"Six projects are being delivered in regional Victoria to reduce deaths and serious injuries on Victorian roads, all of which will get underway in coming months."
The funding means key safety improvements will be made at intersections across the state, including Ballarat, Seymour, Morwell, Loy Yang, Gheringhap and Fyansford.
The project upgrades will include installing roundabouts, new safety barriers, improved street lighting and upgraded cycling facilities.
Work on the six projects, valued at $15.8 million, will begin in coming months.
