Appendix - Authorised Service Provider Eligibility Criteria (Rehabilitation and Disability)

Service provider
TAC eligibility criteria
Alcohol and drug worker

Alcohol and drug treatment services contracted by the Commonwealth government or through state governments and provide:

  • assessment of drug and alcohol service need
  • AOD counselling
  • non-residential withdrawal
  • residential withdrawal
  • therapeutic day rehabilitation
  • residential rehabilitation
  • Pharmacotherapy
Allied health assistants
Holder of a Certificate 3 or Certificate 4 in Health (Allied Health Assistant) or the equivalent. See also the TAC Attendant care guidelines policy.
Attendant care agency
Audiologist
Eligible for full membership of the Audiological Society of Australia and/or accreditation by the Australian Hearing Service (AHS). See also the TAC's Audiology guidelines
Case manager
Community access planners
Community group provider
Dietitian
Eligible for accreditation as an 'Accredited Practicing Dietitian' in the state or territory in which the service is provided. See also the TAC Dietitian policy.
Driving instructor
Driving Instructors who hold 'Driving Instructor Authority' under the Road Safety Act (1986). See also the TAC Driving instructor guidelines policy.

Education support services provider including:

  • Integration aide/teacher
  • Inclusion support facilitor
  • Tutoring agency
Equipment transportation provider
Exercise physiology
Family support worker
Family support workers employed in agencies funded by the Department of Human Services.
Guide dog and assistance dog providers
Orientation and mobility instructor
Eligible for membership of the Orientation and Mobility Specialists' Association of Victoria Inc or of the state or territory in which the service takes place. See also the TAC Orientation and Mobility policy.
Orthoptist
Eligible for membership of The Orthoptic Association of Australia. See also the Orthoptics policy.
Orthotist
Respite services provider
Social worker
Eligible for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers Ltd. See also the TAC Social Work guidelines.
Special education consultant
A teacher with postgraduate qualifications in a relevant specialist area and experienced in working with people with a disability. See also the TAC Education Services guidelines.
Speech pathologist
Eligible for full membership of the Speech Pathology Association of Australia Ltd. See also the TAC Speech Pathology policy.
Supported employment services provider
