Road safety for parents and carers
As a parent or carer of children and teenagers, road safety takes on a new perspective. Your role is critical in helping your children develop safe road skills - from teaching young children how to cross the road safely or ride bikes, through to helping older children learn how to drive responsibly and safely. We have a range of information available to help with all your duties as a parent or carer:
Children
- Child Restraints - securing these safely and knowing what ages to move children up
- Positive role modelling - learning about safe driving starts as young as 5 years old
- Teaching children about road safety - ensuring young children are given the best understanding of road rules helps them safely negotiate the roads from early on through to when they are driving, this includes:
- Walking
- Riding bicycles
- Toys with wheels (such as scooters, skateboards, etc)
- Travelling on buses
